Why do you ask for my sex?
In most cases, we ask for sex only when it is needed for wording, scoring or interpretation.
There are two main reasons:
1. The authors of the measure published separate versions of the questionnaire for males and females. This is relatively rare.
2. The authors published separate norms or reference values for males and females because the average scores differ significantly. This is the most common reason.
I am non-binary. Why is there no option for me?
Most psychological measures were developed and validated using male/female categories only. Their authors usually did not publish separate questionnaires, norms, or reference values for non-binary respondents.
This means that we cannot calculate a separate non-binary score or compare your result with non-binary norms unless such norms exist in the original research.
You can choose one of the following options:
1. Select “Male” and compare your result with male norms.
2. Select “Female” and compare your result with female norms.
3. Skip this test if neither comparison feels appropriate for you.
