Online version of the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ-SA – Self-Assessment, M. Terman edition), a measure developed by J. A. Horne and O. Ostberg to assess individual differences in circadian preference, or chronotype. The questionnaire evaluates preferred timing of sleep, wakefulness, physical activity, and mental performance throughout the day. Individuals with a morning preference tend to feel most alert and productive earlier in the day, whereas those with an evening preference tend to function optimally later in the day and at night.
The MEQ is one of the most widely used measures of chronotype in sleep and circadian rhythm research.
