Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure, SMBM-14

Online version of the Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure (SMBM), a self-report instrument designed to assess burnout as a long-term state of depleted energetic resources. The measure comprises three dimensions: Physical Fatigue, Cognitive Weariness, and Emotional Exhaustion. It is grounded in a resource depletion model of burnout resulting from prolonged exposure to chronic stress, particularly in occupational contexts.

The SMBM-14 is the most commonly used short version. The original 22-item Shirom-Melamed Burnout Questionnaire (SMBQ) was introduced in the early 1990s.
