Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire, SDQ-20

Test scores

Somatoform Dissociation Scale
30][31100][20
66

The scale reflects the severity of physical symptoms and bodily experiences reflecting dissociative processes, including negative phenomena (e.g., analgesia, numbness, sensory loss, paralysis) and positive phenomena (e.g., site-specific pain, altered perception, sensory distortion).

Higher scores indicate greater somatoform dissociation.

Approximate interpretive ranges reported by the developers:

• above 50 – range typical of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID);

• 40–50 – range typical of Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (DDNOS);

• 30s – range typical of eating disorders;

• below 30 – range typical of bipolar disorder and other non-dissociative conditions (anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder).

These ranges indicate whether further assessment for a dissociative disorder may be warranted, not a diagnosis in themselves.
