High scores indicate that the person endorses revising beliefs in light of new evidence, considering new possibilities, and not clinging to beliefs simply because they are established or identity-relevant. In the validation studies, higher AOT-E scores were associated with political liberalism, rejection of traditional moral values, greater acceptance of science, and lower endorsement of conspiratorial, paranormal, and religious claims.
