Online version of the Scale of Emotional Arousability (SEA), a self-report measure designed to assess neuroticism as originally conceptualized by Eysenck – emotional over-responsiveness and vulnerability to stress. The SEA measures four interrelated components of emotional arousability: General Emotionality, Anger, Timidity, and Lack of Control. Unlike the Neuroticism scale of the Eysenck Personality Inventory, the SEA focuses more narrowly on core emotional reactivity, avoiding items that tap related constructs such as anxiety, depression, or self-esteem, and is balanced to control for acquiescence response bias.
