Online version of the Stress Appraisal Measure (SAM), a self-report instrument developed to assess cognitive appraisal of a specific stressful situation. Based on the cognitive-relational theory of stress, the scale measures six dimensions of primary and secondary appraisal – threat, challenge, centrality, controllable-by-self, controllable-by-others, and uncontrollable-by-anyone – as well as overall perceived stressfulness.
