Online version of The OTKLE Questionnaire, developed in the Soviet Union as a diagnostic tool used primarily in educational and social psychology. It was intended to assess certain personality characteristics related to social participation, work attitudes, cultural interests, and patterns of everyday behaviour among students and adolescents. OTKLE is an abbreviation (from Russian) for Organization, Diligence, Collectivism, Inquisitiveness, and Aesthetic Development.
For contemporary readers – especially those outside the former Soviet context – some of the situations described in the questionnaire may appear historically specific. Nevertheless, the underlying psychological constructs assessed by the questionnaire – such as attitudes toward work, responsibility, initiative, cultural interests, perseverance, and social engagement – remain broadly relevant. When interpreted with an understanding of its historical context, the instrument provides insight not only into individual personality characteristics but also into the values and expectations embedded in the Soviet educational system.
