Be as honest as you possibly can. You are the only person who will see this, and you need to clearly see the areas where you're stuck. The ineffective coping mechanisms in the inventory are very common human experiences, based on a survey of thousands of ordinary people. There is no need to feel embarrassed if you realize you engage in some of these behaviors.

Think about difficult, upsetting, or stressful situations in your life in the past three months. Listed below are descriptions of common experiences and strategies for handling difficulty and stress. Please rate each item in terms of how frequently you experience it or how frequently you use that strategy.

Choose the most accurate answer for you, not what you think is the most acceptable or what most people would say or do. None of these are “good” or “bad.” They are just different ways humans cope.
